Its CU unit General Secretary Fazle Rabbi Sujon says they will submit the names later on Friday.

He says Chhatra League’s central body president and general secretary had a meeting with him and CU unit President Alamgir Tipu in Dhaka on Wednesday night.

“They wanted to know what happened that day and who was involved,” Sujon said. “We’ll give them names after going through available video footage.”

Supporters of Tipu and Sujon fought pitched battles on the campus, leaving at least 10 persons, including several policemen, injured.

But Sujon claims there was no skirmish on Nov 2 and passes it off as ‘minor tension’ between boarders of Shahjalal and Shah Amanat residential halls.

Witnesses, however, say the Tipu-backed group ‘Sixty-Nine’ and Sujon’s ‘CFC’ engaged in fisticuffs while greeting admission seekers at the university’s rail station.

They fought running battles with local weapons. Police charged with batons and fired in the air to disperse them.

Security forces later raided the two residential halls, recovered local weapons and detained 30 students.

Police on Tuesday filed three cases over the clash while the university authorities formed a three-member investigation committee to look into the incident.

Fine Arts Faculty student Mofazzal Haider Hossain and management studies department’s Md Mizanur Rahman Khan were temporarily expelled as images circulated in the media showed the two carrying sharp weapons on the day of the clash.

Supporters of the two factions had also clashed on Aug 25 over sharing rooms at the Suhrawardy Hall.
